Budapest's House of Terror

When I first saw this place on the map I thought it was some cheesy tourist funhouse.
It turned out to be the former "House of Loyalty", party headquarters of the Hungarian Nazis. Then between 1945 and 1956, communist terror organizations took over the building.

Innocuous-looking...

but check out what's been added:

Now the building is a museum that commemorates the victims of those regimes.

Memorials to the twin terrors of German and Soviet occupation

What you can't see is a thick, dark liquid that oozes continously from underneath this tank
Not a really happy way to spend an afternoon...but an important place to visit nonetheless.
